Oklahoma Coercive Control Recovery Therapy | Heal, Grow & Thrive

Reclaim the Assertive Self You Had to Abandon

Restoring Your Confidence & Voice.

Sound Familiar?

If you resonate with these experiences, you're not alone.

  • Do certain personalities make you feel steamrolled or muted?

  • Do you override your intuition letting the wrong people into your life?

  • Were you unable to express your needs & emotions, fearing repercussions?

  • Was your reality twisted to fit someone else’s narrative?

Healing from Emotional Neglect & Betrayal

Growing up or being in relationships where your emotional needs are dismissed can make you feel devalued or even owned. Whether it’s a parent, sibling, family member, partner, boss, or "friend," these betrayals can make it hard to trust yourself or others. When you're held responsible for walking on eggshells to prevent deeply upsetting them, it can create a long struggle of feeling shameful for not always thinking the best of others, needing boundaries, saying no, disagreeing, asking for what you need, or honoring your thoughts, wants, and needs as valid. The concept of self-love might feel foreign, but the right therapy can help you reconnect with the part of you that was left behind—creating a stronger, more resilient version of yourself.

It makes sense if you’re tired of not knowing who to trust.

Identifying Coercive Control with the BITE Model

Behavior Control: Were you manipulated or pressured into specific actions, routines, or behaviors? Did you feel restricted in your daily life or unable to make choices freely?

Information Control: Was access to information limited or distorted? Were you only provided with selective or misleading information to influence your perceptions and decisions?

Thought Control: Did you experience pressure to align your thoughts and beliefs with those of a dominant figure? Did you feel your personal opinions were suppressed or invalidated?

Emotion Control: Were your emotions manipulated to maintain control? Did you feel guilt, fear, or anxiety instilled to keep you compliant or dependent?

If you are currently in an intimate abusive relationship, from a friend’s phone, call the YWCA hotline: 405-917-9922. They are the safety plan experts for leaving abusive relationships. The most dangerous time is when they know you want to leave them.

All the emotions you had to suppress, along with the emotional instability or intensity projected onto you…

build up like a bottle on the brink of bursting, wearing down your nervous system. It wouldn't surprise me if you have chronic health problems, autoimmune issues, or identify as a highly sensitive person. The emotions we suppress don’t disappear; we just delete our awareness of them. They will continue to ramp up until we tend to them and nurture them.

In therapy we can gradually reverse this process.

Ready to start your journey?

  • You may be used to being the helper, so receiving help may feel odd.

  • Being the helper may be “too much” of your identity. And it’s time to make room for balance.

  • As a natural giver, you may be used to detecting the emotions or needs of others more than yourself.

    • This can leave you overwhelmed with the feelings of others…while accidentally skipping over your own. Your heart continues to go on unresolved, festering in the background.

  • Feeling overwhelmed? You're not just managing your own stress and emotions; you're also navigating the struggles of others.

But, I’m Not Used to Being Helped.

It’s time to give yourself the care you’ve always deserved.
